First FRANCIS Frugal Innovation Challenge

FRANCIS follows and implements ethical requirements and recommendations provided by the European Commission (EC) to H2020 projects. Ethical issues related to the project work are constantly taken care of and discussed within the project.

 

We aim at ensuring fair and transparent ways of working. We consider regional differences and specifics of different groups of participants when relevant.FRANCIS has set up measures considering so-called “Incidental Findings”. Incidental findings are scientific results beyond the scope of our research that could have an impact on the participants and supporters. Incidental findings in many cases are touching the physical or social conditions of the participant. Examples of these could be: seemingly participant’s health services are not at the level those should be in this location and should be improved. Maybe there are options for support from the local health care providers that the participant is not aware of? In such a case, the buddy will talk to the regional managers and FRANCIS Ethics Managers for guidance. If they see the need for action, they will start the needed measures. Such a measure could be that the buddy informs the participant in support options together with a regional manager.

 

If you have concerns, complaints or suggestions related to ethical issues, please send an e-mail to our ethics managers Veikko and Giovanna via ethics@francis-project.eu in the challenge language of your choice (English, German or Turkish).

You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to processing of your personal data pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. e GDPR (data processing conducted in the public interest) and Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (data processing for purposes of legitimate interests). This also applies to any profiling as defined in Art. 4 (4) GDPR that is based on said provision in Art. 6. If you file an objection, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or unless the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.

 

If your objection is directed against the processing of data for the purpose of direct advertising, we will stop the processing immediately. In this case, citing a special situation is not necessary. This includes profiling to the extent that it is related to such direct advertising.
